Safari, in the literal sense, has nothing to do with seeing animals or taking pictures. It has nothing to do with sleeping under the Serengeti sky or waking up on the rim of the Ngorongoro crater. It has nothing to do with dancing with the Maasai or visiting the cradle of human civilization. Mind you, my safari with Pristine included all of this. To safari is simply to journey. And what a journey it was! We traveled for five days over rough terrain and into some very wild places indeed, Pristine skimping on no detail in order to make my trip the safari of a lifetime. The Pristine team was well mannered and always courteous, and the drivers knew every dip and pothole along every route. Meals were always prepared hot and served generously, and sleeping equipment was more than enough to keep us warm on those (surprisingly brisk!) nights. The guides are all an incredibly knowledgeable bunch, and gave me a new appreciation for what natural treasures their country contains.
In addition to this, having lived in the Moshi community for three and a half months, Pristine are more than outstanding safari organizers, they are also exceptional citizens in and around the region, volunteering countless hours at local orphanages and schools and donating much of their proceeds towards helping their fellow Tanzanians. The local children always have smiles on their faces when they hear the boys from Pristine coming! Indeed, I consider the crew to be dear friends of mine, as well.
Safari, then, is only the tip of the iceberg. Any organization can arrange a safari. Very few, however, can combine talent, passion and expertise in the way that Pristine can. My Pristine experience was nothing short of inspiring, and I trust them deeply enough to bet that yours will be as well.

I was part of a volunteer group visiting Moshi in March 2009, I was lucky enough to experience safari with Pristine Trails in the first few weeks of my being in the country. As a group of 16 we went on the trip of a lifetime to the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti. Without a doubt it was one of the best weekends of an amazing three months in Tanzania. The Pristine guys were able to accommodate the needs of everyone, we had a fantastic safari and were able to see all the Big Five. It was a very surreal experience to see a pride of lions in their natural element! It was the perfect bonding experience, not only with my volunteer group but with the guides, drivers and chefs, many of whom later became great friends. Pristine Trails is a small company who have kept their priorities in tact, the experience of their clients always come first.

Pristine trails did a flawless job organizing our honeymoon - taking us on our safari and on our trek to Kilimanjaro. The company also arranged all our travels and hotel to Zanzibar perfectly. From the moment we stepped out of the plane, someone from Pristine Trails was with us at all times, showing us the city, explaining the natural wonders of Tanzania, and just hanging out having a good time. Once we got to Ngorongoro and Serengeti, Pristine Trails always went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing experience. We couldn't believe how many animals we were able to see (we saw ALL the big five and so much more!!). All in all, we love everyone from Pristine Trails and they made our honeymoon an experience we will never ever forget.

I recently completed an African trip with Pristine Trails, and was absolutely floored by their amazing level of service. My 3 friends and I completed a successful hike of Mt. Kilimanjaro and a 5 day safari with Pristine, and our experiences could not have been better. This I credit fully to Edward, and to Pristine Trails.
Everything was expertly planned for us, and all supporting parties -- the drivers, guides, cooks, managers -- were amazing. They were informative, funny, dedicated, incredibly helpful and considerate, and most importantly, extremely knowledgeable. On our safari to Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater, and the Serengeti -- we were expertly guided through the vast landscapes, cooked INCREDIBLE meals, and shown to a stunning array of animals. We saw, within mere feet of our spacious van -- lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, giraffes, baboons, water buffalo, hyaenas, zebras, impalas, hippos, the list just goes on and on!
Every part of our trip was handled expertly by Pristine Trails, and I really got the feeling that every single member of the team cared deeply about our trip, and about us. Through Pristine, my group truly felt welcomed into Tanzania, and into the inner workings of the country. Their enthusiasm, deep expertise, and attention to detail were such, that I am confident we could not have picked an absolutely better company with which to do our safari, and also for our Kilimanjaro hike.
I have just returned to the United States yesterday, and already am wishing that I was embarking on another safari with Pristine. I have already recommended Pristine enthusiastically and at length to all of my friends and family, and will continue to do so for years to come.

I just wanted to thank you again for arranging our incredible honeymoon! Chris and I enjoyed every minute of it and we are SO glad that Stacey referred us to you. Both Adam and Edgar were fabulous – we cannot say enough good things about both of them – they were absolutely terrific!
If there is ever anything I can do to properly thank you, please do not hesitate to ask. I think it goes without saying that we will certainly be recommending Pristine to any of our friends and family that may follow in our footsteps to Tanzania!

Pristine Trails organized both a Serengeti and Ngorongoro safari trip as well as a Kilimanjaro trek for me this past December. Their service, professionalism, humor and approachable nature made the experience truly one of a kind. They were routinely attentive to peoples' individual needs, and in the instance of unexpected rainy weather, Pristine immediately accommodated those travelers who were not comfortable camping and escorted them to the lodge. Pristine also routinely went above and beyond in getting to know us as individually as clients by taking us out for drinks, and always providing extra transportation free of charge. Pristine was also instrumental in organizing a separate safari for me in Uganda for which they received no extra profit and did it strictly out of generosity and customer service. I highly welcome Pristine Trails as a safari outfit, and would be happy to speak on their behalf should any potential client have any questions or concerns

Dear Pristine Trails,
I want to sincerely thank you for the wonderful safari I had in July. I was not sure what to expect as this was my first African safari but your guide was very knowledgeable about the animals and the surroundings. We were able to see such amazing animals and also thoroughly enjoyed our time at camp. The meals prepared by the cooks were extraordinary. I never could have imagined that in the middle of the Serengeti a person could make such a delicious meal. When thinking about my time in Africa I will never forget the friendships I made with your staff, the amazing animals I was able to see, and the overall wonderful experience I had while with your company. I will recommend Pristine Trails to all of my friends and family that plan on travel to the beautiful Tanzania. I will tell them about your very professional company and the wonderful time they can expect to have when traveling with you.
A sincere thank you to everyone at Pristine for an experience I will never forget.

I will remember for the rest of my life the exciting and educational adventures of safari and hiking with Pristine Trails. It was everything I expected – up close views of the animals of Africa in the wild, opportunities and assistance with photographs, good food and lovely accommodations – and so much more. My guide, Edward, who studied wild life management at a university in Arusha, TZ, was a wealth of information on the flora and fauna. He told us why the zebras and wildebeests can graze together in the bottom of Ngorongoro crater, why the zebras stand in groups the way they do, explained the lifecycle and mating patterns of numerous animals, the special relationship of elephants and the baobab tree, etc. With his experienced eyes he pointed out a saddlebilled stork and a rhinoceros and many other special birds, animal and trees. It was incredible. Edward and the team at Pristine Trails have a great respect for the natural wonders of the area and their responsibility in stewardship of this treasure. Education in wild life management and tourism are obviously valued, benfiting both the students who help the guides and the tourists. At all times I felt that my personal safety was a primary consideration and that everything possible was being done to make the experience a worthwhile and truly memorable experience. The attention to detail seemed effortless on their part and was appreciated by all participants.
During a hike to the first level of Mt. Kilimanjaro two of the guides kindly stayed with me and another older woman at the rear of the pack, carrying our packs and water and offering their assistance over some rough terrain. I felt personally tended to and knew we would safely make it to the campsite with the rest of the group. The “kitchen help” then prepared us a delicious warm and welcome lunch. While we didn’t intend to make it to the top, our hike to the first level was a real feat and included beautiful parts of the rain forest with interesting birds, waterfalls and colobus monkeys. The way the guides made us feel safe and unhurried was a big plus.

Recently Pristine Trails worked with our friend, Dirk Feldmann, to take our group to the summit of Kilimanjaro via the Lemosho Route. Our guides were Kombe, Mussa and Stephen.
I have wanted to get in touch to tell how excellent our trip was - everyone working for Pristine was exemplary, and it was such a pleasure to be among people who seemed to enjoy their work and take pride in their company. Our chef, David, produced amazing and nutritious meals under difficult conditions; our tent man not only helped with some sticky zippers, but could be seen in various camps watching over our camp and our gear. When we left items like trekking poles outside, he carefully collected them and placed them in the mess tent. My porter, Hamedu, came partway up the trail from Barafu to carry my daypack into camp for me!!
Our guides were also excellent: Kombe was very knowledgeable about the plants and everything on the mountain, and Mussa had a ready smile and encouragement (he joked with us all the way up the final climb into Karangu Camp!). However, Stephen must be singled out for his exemplary work with us on the hike. He watched each of us carefully every day, offering assistance with gear adjustments, help for a hiker who was struggling with the terrain, and careful attention to our diet - he was a very professional guide and his experience and expertise showed in his constant attention to our welfare. Thanks to these excellent guides, all 9 of us made it to the summit!
Our welcome at Big Tree Camp, our final celebration at the gate outside Moshi, and all the days between were humbling and gratifying experiences, and we are grateful to Pristine and the staff of our hike for their hard work and dedication. Please pass our gratitude to your staff, and keep up the excellent work!!
