Accommodations In Lake Manyara
Lake Manyara Serena Lodge
Luxury Lodging (Pricing between $190 - $300 per person)
Standing high on the edge of a towering terracotta escarpment with panoramic views over the glittering alkaline waters of Lake Manyara, Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge offers a unique blend of tranquillity, wildlife discovery, and ornithological richness. The unprecedented range of high-adventure sports, meanwhile, include mountain biking, canoeing and forest walks, while cultural choices include tours of the neighbouring villages and dance displays by the local Iraqw and sukuma people.

Grouped around a central ‘vanishing horizon' pool, this highly unusual lodge features a simple timbered reception area, built in traditional African style, which is accessed via a bridge over a small stream. Beyond reception, lies the central dining room, bar and veranda, below which lies the pool. Perched on the very edge of the cliffs, with stunning views over the lake is the pool bar and observation point. Dotted around the grounds, all with views over the lake, are a series of circular two-storey ‘rondavels', which house the rooms.

Designed to reflect the brilliance of Lake Manyara's unique birdlife, the architectural motif melds swooping avian curves with the gentle concentric patterns of traditional Maasai ‘Bomas' , while the vibrantly coloured wall frescoes depict the colourful intricacy of bird migratory patterns.

Lake Manyara Kirurumu Lodge
Luxury Lodging (Pricing between $190 - $300 per person)
Kirurumu Tented Lodge is a luxury tented lodge built upon the Gregorian Escarpment of the Great Rift Valley. Set in this stunning location, it overlooks a spectacular panorama across Lake Manyara to Mount Losimongori and miles of seemingly untouched Africa. An idyllic resting place welcomes the Safari weary traveler to an informal private and relaxing retreat. Accommodation is in large walk-in tents, built under thatched structures with good-sized wooden verandas to the front. There are some new tents being built at the moment, which promise to be excellent, with breathtaking locations, set into the edge of the rift, and with staggering views into the Kirurumu river gorge.

This is a well-run camp with an unpretentious feel and great place to stay en route between Tarangire or Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro or the Serengeti. As well as providing a place to stay between Manyara and Serengeti, Kirurumu offers a wide range of activities, which aren't available in national parks and that in themselves make this a place worth staying at. Cycling on mountain bikes down to the eastern edge of Lake Manyara and walks from camp can easily be arranged.

Facilities include tented rooms including two honeymoon suites, a wooden verandah with armchairs and a table, electricity, telephones, towels and more.

Lake Manyara Tree Tops
Exclusive Lodging (Pricing between $400 - $800 per person)
Manyara Tree Lodge is an exceptional small camp in a wonderfully secluded location at the southern end of Lake Manyara. It's the only lodge inside Lake Manyara National Park. It's right at the Southern tip of Lake Manyara National Park (in the heart of the Mahogany forest), well away from most of the traffic. Tree Lodge is about 2 1/2 hours from the main gate and the drive is very beautiful taking you through acacia woodland in the north and under the really dramatic rift valley that towers above you to the west.

The lodge consists of 10 stilted tree house suites spread throughout the forest to ensure complete privacy. Each Tree House Suite features large windows to invite the lush forest inside. The rooms are very spacious and bathrooms are especially well done with large bathtubs and even an outdoor shower. Furnishings and decorations are contemporary and abstract. Each tree house has its own private viewing deck with a comfortable sitting area and spectacular forest views. Service is also superb as your own private butler is on call for the duration of your stay to mix martinis or serve dinner on your private veranda. Rooms are equipped with: In-room save / Hairdryer / Tea/coffee facilities / Room service / Laundry. The main guest area includes the kitchen, lounge, dining room, gift shop and bar.

The lounge and dining areas are outside and the atmosphere is wonderful. They offer a great place to mingle with other guests and share the safari highlights for the day. For your safety, Askaris (Masai warriors) will accompany you at night when walking to and from the main lodge. The food and Tree Lodge is simply excellent. A gleaming, chrome-accessorised interactive kitchen includes guests in the preparation of delicious Pan-African cuisine. In the theatrical boma (reeded enclosure), tandoori ovens produce heavenly cuisine. Meals are enjoyed in the open-air boma, the dining area, on the decks in the guest area or on the guests’ private viewing decks.
