Accommodations In West Kilimanjaro
Olpopongi Maasai Village
Exclusive Lodging (Pricing between $400 - $800 per person)
The Bilila Lodge Kempinski is a brand new lodge, set in the centre of the Serengeti National Park close to Seronera.

With 74 rooms it is a large international-style hotel and is beautifully and stylishly put together, with lots of high quality fittings from South Africa. It is the closest that you will get to a five star hotel in the Serengeti.

The main facilities include a comfortable lounge and bar furnished with huge sofas and armchairs. There is a vast indoor dining area and restaurant serving international cuisine prepared in an open kitchen, and also an outside deck with tables and chairs. The infinity swimming pool has plenty of sun loungers dotted around it where you can sunbathe and look out across the Serengeti plains at the same time.

You will also find a gym with numerous machines and weights, a game room which is home to an antique billiards table and a variety of board games including chess and backgammon. There is a relaxing library and a beautiful wine cellar which stocks a vast array of South African wines. A shop sells high quality curios and wandering through the art gallery is a fun way to spend half an hour.

Wooden walkways raised off the ground lead you between the main areas and Bilila's 74 bedrooms. These include Deluxe rooms, Club rooms, Corner suites, one Presidential suite and two Family villas. They are all spacious, and the suites are some of the largest rooms in the Serengeti. Each is decorated with local artworks and textures, so you do have some sense of your location but they remain quite minimalist and very smart.

Each room has an en-suite bathroom, air-conditioning, satellite TV and radio, a DVD player, hair-dryer, a mini-bar, tea/coffee making facilities, high speed internet access, and a private teak deck with a telescope for game viewing. In addition, the suites and the two Family villas have their own private plunge pool, offering great panoramic views over the Serengeti plains.

Mbuzi Mawe Tented Camp lies at the epicenter of the Serengeti within easy reach of the prime wildlife theatres of Lobo, the Western Corridor of the Grumeti River, the southern grass plains, the Seronera Valley and the kopjes, or inselbergs, Gol, Barafu, Maasai, Loliondo, Simba and Moru.

Accommodation comprises 16 luxurious, very spacious tents, each with 24-hour generator electricity, constant hot water, ensuite bathroom, dressing area, two double four-poster beds and a verandah with a double sun bed. The central lounge features a generous tented seating area opening on to a broad granite terrace with views over the Serengeti. There is also a cocktail bar, a stylish boutique and dining tent.

Cleverly located on one of the main annual migration corridors for over one million wildebeest, half a million zebras and gazelles, and their accompanying cast of predators, both of these tented camps enjoy a ringside seat for one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on earth - the annual migration.

Activities here at Mbuzi Mawe include daily game drives where with the aid of your guide you will have the opportunity to experience and appreciate first hand the harshness and beauty of this area. Balloon flights and sundowner cocktails can be arranged.

Kambi ya Tembo
Standard Lodging (Pricing between $90 - $190 per person)
Kati Kati Camp is located in central Serengeti in northern Tanzania.

With 20 tents this is relatively large for a mobile camp. It tends to operate Dec/Mar and Jun/Oct, with guests being able to book in and out on a shared basis as they would a conventional lodge.

As with all mobile camps, the exact location is determined by the parks authorities, but Kati Kati Camp is generally located away from the core busy areas but within easy access of the best gameviewing.

Two to three nights is the usual stay duration, with the second full day providing the chance to venture further afield should the game have wandered.

Exclusive Lodging (Pricing between $400 - $800 per person)
Kusini is located in the South Central area of the Serengeti National Park. Part of Kusini's charm is its remote and private location within the park borders offering exceptional and essentially private game viewing. Serengeti is home to the great Wildebeest migration, and the short grass plains around Kusini provide the perfect setting for the wildebeest as they mass around the area in the early months of each year.

Accommodation is offered in twelve double tents which are scattered around the main Kopje. Each tent is attended by a personal butler and has en-suite facilities with hot and cold running water. Private verandahs with comfortable furnishings extend in front of each unit. The dining area, lounge and library are housed in the main area, which affords spectacular views from its wooden deck and the adjacent kopje.

The park, and the area around Kusini in particular, is noted for its lion and cheetah populations and excellent leopard sightings. Sites such as the nearby Moru Kopjes are also renowned for good resident game, particularly cats, all year round. The woodland area fringing the short grass plains, where Kusini is located, also has high sightings of resident game including rarer species such as klipspringer in addition to some incredible bird-life.

The famous wildebeest migration is usually present in area around Kusini Camp from around January and April. The season between January and March greets the arrival of newborn zebra and wildebeest calves.
